Yesterday’s Dinner (Diet Style Plus Some Cheese)

Life is crazy in the playground. These days I actually weigh everything I put in my mouth. Geez. It’s incredible how heavy food actually is – I’m quite sure that I’ve always eaten too much because I basically thought that it would be less. But the below portion actually fits the diet plan I'm following (well, except for the cheese… but cheese has plenty of protein..) Smile

Spaghetti (45 g.), oven-baked salmon (125 g.), any amount of veggies (pepper, tomato, onion + garlic) and then the cheese (feta cheese + grated cheese). It was delicious!!

And see now… even carrots are heavy! You can only carry 100 of those in your hand luggage on the plane.

Week Ahead

The throat is finally getting better, so I’ve spent a good 30 minutes doing what I like most: planning! Smile (the throat needs to be OK because I’m planning my training for next week…).

The plan is as follows:

DSCN2656

I’ve got two different kinds of training plans that I could follow, including this one. I’ll give this a try for a week, and then decide which one is better. The morning walks are a new addition, but there is no longer any excuse to omit them, considering that the sun rises shortly after 6 am. The place where I work is also only a 7-minute walk away so walking to work and back doesn’t give enough exercise.

Today’s lunch was delicious, yet extremely spicy

Bulgur, chicken breast, mushrooms, chili, garlic, lots of cilantro and feta cheese.

Yay!

Remember my Beach 2012-project? Well… I’m halfway through it, and this morning it was time to use the measuring tape again and check if there’s been any change compared to January. And all I can say is: wohoo! Now, I have been far from self-disciplined so I was really happy about the results. The progress is slow, but it IS happening.

Waist: –4 cm

Chest: –2 cm (this was the saddest part Smile)

Hips: –3 cm

Right thigh: –4 cm

Left thigh: – 4 cm

Right bicep: 0

Left bicep: 0

Now I’m going to start with a new training program and also change my eating habits a little bit. We’ll see where that will take us Smile

Saluuuut!

There are so many great things happening right now so I don’t really know what to do with myself. The one great piece of news is that TT was very attentive to my wish regarding my birthday present, meaning that he booked me tickets to one very special European capital at the end of March. And I can’t wait. I spent most of last night reading a guide book Smile. For my holidays I’ll also try to squeeze in a trip to the other side of the Archipelago Sea. It’d be nice to see my cousins again, as well as meet up with a couple of blog readers in the Capital.
The other great thing is that I bought scales. The result was expected, so I had already prepared myself mentally to embark on a journey of being my own nutritional guinea pig. Does anyone else find these things (i.e. fitness and nutrition!) interesting as well?

Posing

DSCN1579

I really don’t know. Is the whole Beach 2012-project going anywhere? Hard to tell. Sometimes I think I see a difference, but the next moment the mirror is saying something else. Apart from this I’m having that weird knot in my stomach telling me that something isn’t quite right.  I don’t know what is, but time is flying and I have forgotten something important. The list of deadlines is growing bigger and nothing is certain right now. And then there’s that eternal feeling of not being enough.. not smart enough, not good enough, not clever enough, not pretty enough, not nice enough. The list goes on.

Veggies And General Ponderings On A Saturday

First I must tell you all about an extremely delicious dish I threw together yesterday. All you need is a little bit of sweet potato, 1/2 carrot, 1 small onion, 2 garlic cloves, 1/2 pepper, chickpeas and spinach. Season with pepper, coriander and curry.’ (serves 2)

I was supposed to go to a yoga class today. It was a class I had really looking forward to because we were going to practice basic techniques. The buzzing and humming in my ears and the black spots in my eyes started 10 minutes after that class had started. In order to avoid fainting right there and then, I decided to pack my stuff and leave. What a pity! So, I’m spending this Saturday freezing and with a sore head in bed, reading this:

Sleepy Sunday

15 of the past 24 hours have been spent sleeping… in between naps I have eaten something (a lot, in fact), done some reading and entertained my mother. In a while I’ll be back in bed. The only thing I need to do now is prepare my stuff for tomorrow morning so that I can get up at 6.30 and then walk to work in the snow. Normal behaviour? Maybe.

Quite frankly, I think my body (and my head) needed a day of inactivity. The week was filled with a lot of everything- from hard training at the gym to loving the world. I don’t think one can have too much of the good thing, but once in a while it’s a good idea to rest.

Today I also took my measurements for Beach 2012. I’ve decided to ignore the scales because staring myself blind at my weight would probably drive me straight to insanity. Measures should be more reliable anyway.

Waist: – 2 cm

Chest: +/- 0 cm

Right arm: – 1 cm

Left arm: +1 cm (omg, I’m disproportional!!! Smile)

Hips: – 2cm

Right thigh: – 1 cm

Left thigh: –0,5 cm

Both calves: + 0,5 cm.

So, ok. I ‘m satisfied, this is going in the right direction. On Tuesday my friend K and I are going to have the Great 5K Race. Basically, each month we will increase our distance and at the end of the month the goal is to beat a certain time we’ve set for ourselves. January has been all about 5K. Let’s see how fast we will make it.

Thoughts On Week 3

Firstly, it didn’t go according to plan, but I’m quite satisfied anyway.

week3

Monday: morning walk + strength training (triceps + biceps) 40 mins.

Tuesday: bodycombat

Thursday: walk, 5 km/45 minutes

Friday; running 5 km/31 minutes, 30 seconds + abs 15-20 minutes

Sunday: pilates (emphasis on back and shoulders) 1 h, running 4 km/25 minutes + lots of walking

My goal for next week is to keep it simple, but do strength training 3 times and running 3 times. I also need to go to yoga because my body feels extremely stiff. We’ll see how that goes because I’ve already signed up for HIT and bodycombat: they are both very useful (and fun!) forms of exercise, but I don’t exactly have too much time on my hands.

Today I also discovered a good song to run to. Come on, don’t tell me you don’t feel like running fast when you hear this Smile

Next Week

borjan

Monday: never tried zumba before, but I’m quite curious so why not give it a try. After the class I also want to do some sort of strength training, probably biceps and triceps.

Tuesday: my friend K and I have scheduled a killer-session for Tuesday. It will probably consist of running + strength training (back + chest + shoulders)

Wednesday: Hungarian grammar class limits the time at the gym so I’ll go for classes.

Thursday: yoga for flexibility and some sort of cardio.

Friday: Stockholm baby.

Saturday: Stockholm + ferry. I might be able to squeeze in some crunches.

Sunday: running + strength training (legs)

Last Night’s Run

Distance: apr. 8K. Time: 50 minutes. Result: surprising.

Last night I decided to run to my parents’ house and it was possibly the best run ever. It was DSCN0846chilly (not long ‘till it’ll be snowing  here too!) and dark. After leaving town there weren’t even any street lights so the stars were guiding me.

Amidst twinkling stars and the chilly breeze the running was easy – it’s never been that easy – and I once again remembered why it’s such an amazing activity.
