Copy pasting gone wrong. This post is about

18.06.2008

and what happened on that day. 2008 I was already blogging. So I decided to cheat. Back in the day I still wrote in Finnish. I was reading Doctor Zhivago and expressed my interest in the Russian civil war. I can’t remember the exact date, but right before the 18th June I had survived all my exams and moved to Valencia, Spain. It was summer, uni was over, I had dreams. The city was warm and beautiful.  And probably I was fighting the uncertainties of finding a job and the future.

On that very day I also ate peaches filled with raspberries. Interesting combination.

Going West.

…again. But only for the day. But this is the second Sunday in a row that I’m going to Austria.

Other places on the list to visit this spring.

  • Belgrade: on the train from Budapest to Bratislava, we realised that the train was actually coming from Belgrade and after that we’ve had an inexplicable urge to head down south.
  • Prague: it’s the new year’s resolution to go to Prague in January 2013. And those have to be kept, right?
  • Cracow: also a must place to see. One of the cities in Poland that I haven’t been to yet.
  • Valencia: a friend of mine and I were talking about what to do for Easter and this is our master plan. Palm trees, sunshine, friendly people and errr… fit eye candy is nothing we won’t say no to Smile

Now I need to run to the super market (fingers crossed it’s open) before running to the train station (fingers crossed they sell tickets).

Have a nice week, everyone!

Can't Sleep.

The town is dark and everything is silent. It's well past midnight. Only the rain and the birch leaves can be seen flapping in the street light. I tried to sleep but my head keeps twisting and turning. There is so much to do. Work applications and gym planning. Tonight I drafted a workout program for our trip to Spain. Kicki and I might not be the fittest people in the gym but at least we love it so much that we can't go abroad without a plan. And let's not mention how much I love the planning itself: thinking about supersets and reps and which muscles should be trained on what day and how much cardio is enough. It's so much fun.
This isn't all that is on my mind, though. A friend of mine had some interesting comments today. I appreciate the honesty and the thought-provoking cleverness. You know who you are.
I don't really like the taste of chamomille tea. It's too bitter. I'll try to drink it, though.

Good night, world!

Running On Good Friday

I was asked to share some pictures from Valencia with you readers, so today when I went for a run, I brought the camera me to snap some photos for the blog. Hope you like them Smile The “run” itself took about 50 minutes, the distance being more or less 6 km (hence the brackets!). I wouldn’t recommend anyone to try to run in a city centre on a public holiday (or any other day for that matter) – I was lucky I survived!

Perfect!

Today is perfect for a barbecue on the terrace – or what do you say?

valencia

Oh my goodness: I’m turning British (blogging about the weather) AND getting old (keep forgetting to change the time on my computer – it’s still ticking and tocking to Finnish time).

I want to thank you all for your wishes, you are the best! Enjoy this lovely Saturday!

This Is For Kicki!

Detta var igår… men det är likadant idag, inte en endaste isbjörn så långt ögat når! 23 grader varmt och soooool! Smile

Crêpes

Just as if three days of pancakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner wouldn’t be enough, we had lunch at a “crepería” (la Galette) today in the Russafa-area. For 15€ (per person) we filled ourselves with salad, crêpes, cider, coke, beer and coffee. It was delicious! (And I think it’ll take a few months before any crêpe will find its way anywhere near me again).

Peachy!

blog 365

One of the absolutely greatest things about both Spain and autumn is the fruit. It’s fresh, it’s cheap and it’s everywhere. Right now I’m addicted to peaches, but soon it’s time to start having fresh orange juice for breakfast every morning. Delicious!

Sataa, sataa ropisee.

It’s only Tuesday but it feels like a typical Sunday here in Valencia. It’s a public holiday so nobody is working /except for me/ and the rain is pouring down. It’s so nice and cosy, just sitting here, drinking tea and listening to the rain. We had a nice lunch with friends earlier, I’ve been working and now I’m thinking about going for a run in the rain to clear my head, get some fresh air and re-charge the batteries (there is nothing as energising as a good run in Zsuzsi’s world) .

At the Last Minute

Remember how I told you yesterday that I needed to get a lot of things done? (thanks to everyone for cheering for me, by the way) Well, I still need to do most of those things... Why, oh why do I ALWAYS leave things to the last minute? It seems to be some innate characteristic that I’ll never get rid of, since I always manage to end up in the same situation, even if I try to remind myself about the consequences. How about you? Do you always stress at the last minute or do you possess enough foresight to complete your tasks before they are due?

But. Maybe it’s worth it. Yesterday turned out to be a lovely day.

It eventually stopped raining, so we (I & a very sweet friend) went to get our caffeine boost at a beach not too far away (called Pinedo).

DSCN3747

We had the beach all to ourselves...

DSCN3749

...there were only a few fishermen here and there.

Now we must to fast-forward to this moment.

DSCN3754

Did you really think that I would let you get away without seeing a photo of food? Mohahha. If that’s the case, then you were wrong. Don’t forget about my secret mission, which is to make you hungry, Today’s breakfast was very tasty: raspberries, mango, cereal and some pineapple yoghurt.

And this photo describes quite well my feelings this morning: all blurry, pouty and up-side-down.

Now, off to work. Have a nice Friday, everyone!

Out and About

Last night I went for an amazing run: great music and the chilly breeze turned an easy run into 45 minutes of "run until you drop": it’s experiences like these that get you hooked! Today I walked the same route to get some nice morning exercise... and photos for you!  DSCN3703 DSCN3705

Getting lost in the barrio

Today’s exercise: about 90 minutes walking + getting lost. I’m very content that I decided to spend this sunny Sunday evening on going for an adventure to check out the surroundings. The sunshine is also wonderful!
